John "Jack" Vaughan, James Warriner's father-in-law, inherited this land from his father Samuel Vaughan. Upon Jack's death his heirs sold the land by deed as follows:
Russell County Deed Book F, 12 Dec 1854: "John S. Vaughan [son] and Rutha Ann [Beck] his wife, of Russell County, to James Warriner for $200 ... all our interest ... as one of the heirs of John Vaughan deceased, in a tract in Russell County, on north side of the river, the Long Bottom, at its lower end ... being our 1/8 part of said tract on which Samuel Vaughan deceased lived at his death."
Russell County Deed Book G, 10 Mar 1857: "Elizabeth Vaughan, widow of John Vaughan deceased; Benjamin T. Vaughan [son] and Elizabeth [Helm] his wife; Aaron McClure and Ruth [daughter] his wife; Samuel Vaughan [son] and Elizabeth [Pierce] his wife; and William Vaughan [son], four of the heirs of said John Vaughan deceased to Andrew Paterson and James Warriner for $1111, their undivided interest in land on north side of Cumberland river at lower end of Long Bottom, whole being 250 acres, the same where said John Vaughan deceased did reside, and the said dower and 4/8 thereof, etc.... Recorded March 13, 1857."
