age 14 in 1870Joseph Bradley Petty dictated notes below to Carl Petty 1926: He moved to Sheridan Co., Ill near Autu..., Ill in 1861, in 1858 after the war, family moved to Tuscola, Ill. In 19=875 they moved to Crindom Co., in Champaign, Ill (sic)
Joseph Bradley retated that, one time they moved from their Misssouri home to Tuscola. All week long after their moving, their large shepard like dog seemed unsettled, and on Sunday morning hwhen the church bells rand in tuscolla, the dog left and found it's way back to the Missouri farm, and took possession of it. The dog would not let the new tanan/owner go about their daily farm duties, so it was necessary to shoot the dog so that the new owner could work his farm.
