Clinton R. Ames
Clinton "Clenty" R. Ames, 90, formerly of Altonah, passed away peacefully, June 24, 2001, in Bountiful.
He was born Dec. 24, 1910, to Samuel and Dora Jane Littlewood Ames in Meadow, Millard County. He married Ilez Edwards, July 10, 1935, in the Manti Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They made their home in Altonah, where Clint was involved in dairy farming. A former school teacher, Ilez became a wonderful homemaker and the love of Clint's life. They raised six children together there and Ilez then preceded Clint in death on Feb. 13, 1972.
They were active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where Clint served in many responsibilities including Bishop's counselor, Sunday School, home teacher, and served a mission to St. George in his later years.
Clint is survived by his children, Sherral (Darrell) Goodrich, Bountiful; Alta (Charles) Gibson, Ogden; Bonnie Ann (Edward) Miller, Richmond; G. Allen (Ulla) Ames; Mo.; Dora (Swen B.) Wersland, Centerville; Rodger (Linda) Ames, Altonah; 41 grandchildren and 94 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Glen, Dallas, and Reuben; sisters, Zina Keller, and Zella Foote; and five grandchildren, the most difficult being his beloved 19-year-old grandson, Sam.
Funeral services will be held 12 noon, Wednesday, June 27, at the Moon Lake Ward Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Family and friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. -11:45 a.m.
Interment will be in the Altamont Cemetery under the direction of the Hullinger Mortuary.
The family wishes to express appreciation to the Bountiful House assisted living center staff for their loving care in his final year and Hospice special care.
