Sherod A. Kincaid was born about 1821 in Franklin County, Tennessee and settled in Fallsville, Newton County, Arkansas where he was reportedly bushwacked and murdered about 1867. He was first married to Eliza Hughs and later to Jane Hughes on 16 January 1853 in Ozark, Franklin County, Arkansas. In the 1860 Federal Census he is found in Union Township, Newton County, Arkansas. His family, and their corresponding ages, tie him to Boston Township, Franklin County, Arkansas in the 1850 Census Census where he is living next to Kincades believed to be his mother and siblings. Based on this, and other evidence, the participant believes Sherod to have been the son of Joseph Kincaid of Barren County, Kentucky; son of Hobson Kincaid of Albemarle County, Virginia; son of John Kincaid of Washington County, Virginia; son of David Kincaid and Winnifred Hobson who settled in Bath County, Virginia. By his second wife, Sherod Kincaid was the father of James Brookins Kincaid (b. October 1858 Fallsville, Newtown County Arkansas - September 1918 Atkin's Bottoms, Pope County, Arkansas). James Brookins Kincaid was the father of George William Kincaid (11 February 1882 Dardanelle, Yell County, Arkansas - 24 April 1960 Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California)

QRYTEXT: Searching for gravesites, Cemeteries or Bible entries that would help me prove that my great grandfather's parents were "bushwhacked" and "murdered" by Indians or Bushwhackers, in Union Township of Newton County, Arkansas between the years 1867 - 1871. My great grandfather, James Brookins Kincaid, was the sole survivor of the event. He hid in the bushes and witnessed his own parents getting killed, he was only nine years old at the time. His parents were SHEROD KINCAID and JANE HUGHS/HUGHES. The surname was spelled as; "KINGCADE" on the 1860 Census of Newton County. They were married in Franklin County, Arkansas in the year 1853 and the Clerk recorded her name as "HUSE". Would like know if anyone has ever heard of this murder taking place in the area I have mentioned.
