Wheatland, Wyoming newspaper article " John Petty, another well known old timer selled on Sand Creek in 1887. J.A. Johnson had purchased 40 acres that are now a part of the Bowen farm, that corners the farm to Market road and 16th street. Mr Petty farmed these acres. He built a home for his family near the old Hudle bridge." it continued, "the P etty's lived near Wheatladn for several years and then moved to the Mulshoe ranch... the first blacksmith shop. When thy still lived in Georgia, they received many letters from their friend & neighbor Sam White about the opportunities in the Territory of Georgia. ... The entire family rode the trains as far as Chugwater (as far as the rails were laid) and met by Sam White-he took them by team to Sand Creek. Two babies were born while the Petty's lived near Hurdle Bridge, Victoria, b. 16 Apr. 11839 and Rahn 14 Jan 1891. Mrs Robinson was the midwife. When the Petty's moved to the Mulshoe ranch the school teacher, Miss Chilotte, moved with them and she drove across the paraie to school.
