says this: Chesley Wray was md to Nancy Hoover 6 Oct 1817 and to Jane Mitchell
14 Jun 1827 He was the son of John Ray. John Ray was the son of William and
Molly Ray. John was born on the Tar River, Nash Co., NC 10 Jun 1772. Tabitha
Petty, John's wife was born in Moore Co. on the Deep River in the year 1772.

Biographical History of Boone Co., Indiana states: Chesley was the son of John and Tabitha Petty Ray were early settlers of Randolph Co., NC where they reared a family of nine children: Elizabeth, Presley, Sarah, Nancy, Mark, Jordayn, Pollin, Cynthia, and Chesley. Chesley being the second in line of birth. The birth of Chesley occured in the above countyand state 20 Jan 1793. He married in 1817 and about four years later immigrated to Wayne co., IN where he resided for a shoret period of time and moved to Marion Co., IN where his first wife Nancy Hoover, dau. of Judge Hoover died 6 Mar 1826. The follwing year he mdJane Harmon Mitchell wife of Robert Mitchell and in 1846 moved to Hamilton Co., IN and then to Ill. to Knox Co. where Chesley departed this life on 6 Mar 1869. This wife Jane surviving him by twoyears. Chesley and Nancy's children were: Netty, Nancy, John, William and Elizabeth and by his second wife: Jane Mitchell were Mark and Tabitha.
