records prior to that were burned with a few exceptions which are some early
court records there in Hickman. She has written the President of the Hickman
Co Historical Society and asked her to do some research there for me. She
lives in Centerville, Hickman Co TN. so maybe she can come up with
something.

She also has a right of Dower signed by his wife and an obit on her brother
that names Nancy Harrington his sister but that's it.

Note: Appearance docket to Inferior Court Nov 1774 Chatham Co., N.C.
Younger Neill & wife vs Absalom Petty: bail executed by James Petty & Charles Clanton.

Researcher, John Petty: Here is some information that I received from a Neal researcher, Dorothy Conner.
Lee Neal stated in the 'History of NW Arkansas,1884,Goodspeed; "His great-grandparents (Younger Neal Sr) were French and left their native land on account of the religous intolerance there.( Only the one great-grandparent could have come from France as Younger Neal's wife was Sarah Petty). the daughter of James and Martha Petty.
Younger Neal was in Chatham County N.C. by 1781 as he is listed inChatham County ,N.C. Deeds, 1770-1782, Vol.1, Poe Publishers. On Page 416-February 13,1781-Alexander Clarke and Pheby his wife to James Howard 4700pds, 350 acres- all that tract or parcell of land whereon Simon Poe formely lived.Joins Mrs. Hannah Poe ,William Poe Jr., and the land formely belonging to Morten and Richard Kennon and the land whereonYounger Neil now lives. And in Chatham County, N.C. Court Minutes,1781-1785, Vol.2 Poe Publishers: Page 17A, The following persons summoned to lay of side the road from the Red Field Ford to the horse penlick spring . Young'r Neel and others.
Younger evidently supplied some supplies to the colonial troops. In DAR #217654 application it states : (BOOK-IX-4-3, "An account of certificates delivered into the treasurer's office exchanged pursuant to act of the assembly passed in Dec.1789. To whom originally issued delivered into the comptroller's office by Jn. Armstrong by Mebane andNichols...No. 5462..To whom granted : Younger Neal...Date Oct. 1783..Sum:13:10."
There is an inventory of the estate of Younger Neal in The Chatham County, N.C. Wills, tec. 1782-1794 -tract of land 230 acres and one of 100 acres. Among the purchasers were Sarah Neal and Stephen Neal. In Chatham County, N.C.Court Minutes, 1781-1785, Vol.2 Page 86 A., Administration of the estate of Younger Neill.. Granted to Sarah Neill. She giving James Stewart Sr., and James Stewart Jr., Security upon there turned an inventory and sale granted. And on Page 96 B., Account Salesof the estate Younger Neill and John Strawan returned into court.
Book K , page 29,1797: gives William Neale , James Neale, Younger Neale, and William Neale as guardians for Thrasley, Stephen, and Elizabeth Neale, heirs of Younger Neale, dec'd. (Please note the variety of ways that Neal was spelled in the various records.)
Sarah Neil in November 1791 is listed in the Chatham County, N.C.Court Minuets 1790-1792, page 57, is listed a deed from James Stewart to Sarah Neil proved by Phillip Meroney. In Chatham County, Book N, page164: 1803 , gives William Neil, James Neil and Emsley George as heirs at law of the late Sarah Neil in a deed of land to Wm. Headen. So Sarah died before 1803.
