Younger Neal Jr-1127

"Younger Neal: by Wanda Head
I'm hope no one minds my jumping in here. Younger Neal was definitely married to Lurany Harrington. This is proven in Philemon Harrington's estate papers. I think where the Susannah comes into the picture is from a transcribed deed in Hickman Co., TN. (I believe by the WPA). It was spelled with an "S" instead of an "L". From the original it was an "L". Probably people have picked up this transcribed document and gone with the Susannah. If there is a document that gives her name as Lurany Susannah I haven't ever seen it, but will not say there isn't one. Several people have said that Lurany was married to both James McCaleb Jr. and Younger Neal. But if they research these two men they will find both of them having children during the same span of years. Lurany couldn't be married and having children by two men during the same period of time. Especially while one is still in Chatham Co., NC and one is in Hickman Co., TN during part of the time. We have to be logical in this. Putting the two men side by side and detailing their lives will certainly show that she was not married to James McCaleb. According to Spence of Hickman Co. James McCaleb was married to Sallie Merriman Harrington and I believe this to be true although I haven't found a document that out right proves it.
Wanda Head." Wanda is a good researcher & a Descendant of Drury Harrington, brother to my Charles Harrington (Barb)

Note 2nd husband of Luraney S Harrington

Younger was a child of Younger Neal Sr. and Sarah (Petty) Neal. He married Lurany Harrington. She was from two properous and well known families, the Harrington's and the Harmon's.
There is a deed in Chatham County, N.C. Book Y, page 142, dated 18th March , 1822. "James McCaleb of the state of Tennessee, Hickman County, to Younger Neal of the state of North Carolina of Chatham County--300 dollars. Hill and William Bryans lines across the Long Brach to the South of the Meadow Branch. Youger Neal Jr. served as Sheriff of Chatham County. The family moved to Hickman County, Tennessee in 1826. Younger is listed in the 1840 census of that county. He died in 1843 in Hickman County. Lurany moved with the family to Arkansas. She lived with their son , Palmer Neal, in the 1850 Crawford County census.
