William H Petty vs William T Ross, Adm'r of John Greer Dec'd. William H Petty of Miss. an infant under 21 years of aage in Dec 1838, wit. of about the age of 13 years by his Uncle and next Friend Thomas J. Greer... that William Petty's late father worned houses & lotts in town of Lexington, Henderson Co., tenn. leaving Mary V. his widow & relict and himself William H. Petty his only child and Heir at law on his sd father's deate that John greer late of LCT was made his (Wm H. Petty) his guardian. He also stated that his mother Mary V. was and infant , under 21 & before her marriage to the sd. John Greer & sold & disposed of for $700 , a negro girl which before that time hadbeen given to said Mary V by her grandmother, Mary Greer your orator's (Wm H. Petty) said Motheralso departed this life in LCT in the spring of 1837 & Wm T. Ross of the same County obtained letters of Adm..."
