Upon the petition of Christopher Petty, he is herby assigned guardian to his grand daughter Willmuth Petty giving security , Whereupon the said Christopher Petty, together with Thomas Dodson Jr. entered into bond and acknowledged the same which was ordered to be recorded.”

Page 597: 5 August 1731:
" Ordered that the Sherrif summons to next court Nicholas Martin and Francis his wife, adm. of the estate of John Petty dec'd, to answer the petition of Christopher Petty guardian to Willmuth Petty, orphan of the said John Petty, dec'd."

Vol 10, page 292: 3 June 1735
Christopher Petty (her grandfather) vs: Nicholas Martin and Francis his wife (mother of Willmuth Petty) gave her a porportional part fo her dec'd Father's estate by consent of both parties. Wilmoth was given 18 pounds, nine shillings and eight pence.

Francis, mother of Willmoth married soon after the death of her husband John Petty, and Willmuth's brother Christopher was dead. We do not knw if she bore other children to her new husband Nicholas Martin.
