1Informant, Civil War Facts.
Civil War facts on Jefferson and his brothers. Jefferson enlisted in the Confederate Army Feb. 28, 1863 in Company F 34th Regiment of Cleveland County NC Troops. Sixy five days after enlistment he was killed at Chancellorsville, VA. Jefferson's brother Moses P. enlisted on Sept. 17, 1861. He was wounded at Ox Hill, VA on Sept. 1st 1862. After returning to battle he was wounded again and captured at or near Gettysburg, PA in July 1863. He was hospitalized at Chester, PA and transferred to Point Lookout Maryland Oct. 2nd 1863. Jefferson's brother James enlisted in the Confederate Army May 14, 1861 in 1st Company D 15th Regiment NC Troops.

However, the wife of John T. Petty is named Nancy. If in fact this is John Tapley Petty, Nancy must be his 2nd wife.
