His birthplace was listed as Creswell, Oregon. and it named his father as Geoge Petty and his mother as Francis Malinda Eaton born in St Joe, Missouri. His father born in Danville, Illinois. His body was removed to Portland, Oregon on 26 Nove 1934. died of Luetic Myocarditis. and Pumonary Tuberculosis.

Riley Petty, life long resident of this area, had a number of pleasant surprises on his 82nd birthday anniversary Saturday, July 27th.
A neighbor cam in to sing"Happy Birthday" and three decorated cakes wwer brought. a son, Oliver Petty and family of Albany cam on Sunday wth one of the cakes. Another son Earl Petty and family, also brought a cake decorated for the occasion by Mrs Petty and Mildred (?blurred) R... m C.P. Petty and Mr. and Mrs J. A. Sartelle and son Jim remembered him with a call and a cake.
Other callers incluttyd Mrs Petty's brother, W. P. Sheridan and wife, Mr. and Mrs R.E. Wright and Mr and Mrs E.J............ Edwards, who bought the Petty farm in the Bear Creek District.
Mr. Petty was born on the "Old Petty donation claim" July 27, 1875 and has lived all his many years in this community.
