Ann Catherine came to Texas as a widow but later married Levi Pogue. No children were born to this union. She outlived her brothers and sisters by 14 years. It was from her that much of the Petty history was heard. She had many experiences during the Civil War. One was of driving a wagon through the Confederate Army line all day with her Northern husband hidden under a big wooden tub. The wagon was searched several times but they never found him. It is said that Ann Pogue never had a headache nor ever took a dose of medicine in her long life. She never got nervous nor in a hurry about anything. The thought of death didn't worry her at all. At the ripe old age of 91 years she went to bed and slept her last hours away. She is buried in Willow Creek Cemetery in Lavaca Co., TX.2Barbara McGee, editor, Petty Papers, Vol 6 #1 pg 59.

Johnson was also call Jon. He married Cynthia S. Peacock and had 10 children. This Petty son was perhaps the most daring of the Petty boys. He did not marry until he was 24 years old and that gave him time to get into all kinds of things. He served in the Civil War and had a horse shot out from under him at the Battle of Galveston. He drove the trail to Kansas and on one of those trips he went to Missouri and brough Ann Catherine Williams, his sister, to Pettytown. John had traded for an indian pony somewhere up the way and when they camped for the night their team went scampering off into the wild prairies of Texas. They went to sleep and the next morning at daybreak they say their team coming towards them. Jhn said that he know that indian pony would bring the other one back. It was John who dared his brothers to see which could swallow the biggest rock. When it came his turn he tried such a big one tht he nearly chocked to death. Needless to say that John did not live to a very old age. He is buried in Pettytown with his wife.

John Petty was living with Sam at the time of the 1880 census.
Known to have served in the 26th Brigade, Texas State Troop; Sam was perhaps the least adventursome of all the Petty sons. He lived his life at Pettytown. His home was near that of Grandpa John Petty and Grandpa lived with him and Mary after the death of Grandma Petty. The home of Sam and Mary was walways open to homeless girls and boys. They say that two of John Petty's children lived with them after their father's death. Sam Petty was a mason in his earlier life and also considered an Elder in the old Church at Pettytown.
