Thomas Posey-41925

1Joyce Althoff.
The following was found the "The Tallow Light" Oct-Dec 1968, Vol 3 #3 pgs 130-131:
"Thos. and Bain Posey were the original Posey settlers of the Valley, coming from Prince William County, VA in 1813. Thos Posey was married to Amy Petty and to them were born seven children: Anney (?) married Jan McKibben in 1822. One daughter was born to them and two years later she died. Henry married Susan McKibben, eight children were born to them. Three are living. Alexander married Mahala Morrison. Nine children blessed this union. After her death he married Mary Riley, 1838. Tne children blessed this union, one only living. George Posey died 31 Jul 1904 at the age of ninety three years, four months, having attained the greatest age of any in the family. Thos died in 1854 age 21 years. Dudley Posey married Rachel Racer for his first wife and Susan Phillips for his second wife. He died 3 Jan 1899. Wm. married Elizabeth Williams.

2Jack D. Petty, GEDCOM file imported on 13 Mar 2000., Jeffrey Petty.

3Joyce Althoff.
Presley Petty was listed as the bondsman for the marriage.

Amy Petty-3437

1Barbara McGee, editor, Petty Papers, Vol 4 #1 pg 2.

2Joyce Althoff.
No parents have been established for Amy Petty. I am inclined to think she may be the d/o Dudley Petty (1746/1758-1820), only because Amy and Thomas Posey named a son Dudley and the name of Dudley is repeated in several generations afterwards, no other proof.

3Joyce Althoff.
Amy may be either the daughter of Dudley Petty, Presley Petty, or Joseph Petty, Jr and that Joseph Petty Sr is her grandfather.

Presley Petty was probably the bondsman at her marriage to Thomas Posey.

On her tombstone located in the Beach Grove Churchyard, Newport Township, Washington, Ohio says that she died on 23 nov 1820 at age 37 yrs. This would make her calculated birth abt 1782/3 -- about 10 years after the date 19 Aug 1772 which was listed.

4Joyce Althoff.
died at age 37 years.
