1Betty Wilson Blackwell.
At age 13, he came with his family to Panola Co. in 1840 from South Carolina. He started his medical practice in Old Panola in 1852 and married in 1855. He was an Lt. in the Civil War serving as a physician for 4 years. After the war he returned to Batesville where he practiced until he died in 1914.

According to the Lauderdale Co. Cem. Records, Vol IV Wilbur F. Hyer d. 11/18/1897 and Eliza B. Hyer d. 10/11/1909 are buried in lot 473 in Rose Hill Cem.
His biography is listed in Biographical and Historical memoirs of Mississippi, 1891 published by Goodspeed Pub. Co. of Chicago. He was a physician, surgeon, legislator, and senator.
