Margaret Jennings-18044

1Mary Jean Hall.
"A Genealogical History of the Jennings Families in England and America:, Vol, II, The American Families: by William Henry Jennings, 1889, pg 31 Margaret Jennings, or as she was more commonly know, "Aunt Peggy," still holds a warm place in the hearts of those who knew her well in life. She was a woman of more than ordinary powers of mind although they were not fully developed. She was a very fluent speaker and an earnest exhorter, and was very active in the work of the United Brethern Church, of which she was a member, although in her earlier years she had been a Methodist. Her first husband, George Nixon, was the son of William Nixon, her stepfather. He was not a member of any church but was a good man of considerable education and had much influence. His death at the early age of twenty five years cut short a life which promised to be one of great usefulness and prominence. Presley Petty, the second husband of Margaret, was a farmer by occupation and much respected by his neighbors. He, like his wife, was a member of the United Brethern Church. He was a soldier in the war of 1812 in Captain John Thorniley's company.
