II- WILLIAM PETTY JR. Born ca 1736-37 in Orange County.,Virginia. He married about 1760 in Orange Co to Mildred... . He appear numerous times in Chatham County deed records from 1770 to 1800. His estate was inventoried on Oct. 5, 1822. His widow Mildred passed away four years later in 1826.
Their children were William, James, Jesee, Isaac, Guilford, Mary, and perhaps others. This family remained in Chatham County.

William died most likely in Chatham Co., NC, before 5 Oct 1822 when his estate sale took place.

"There has been satasfactory evidence contributed to the court that Mildred Petty was a purrissioner of the United States .... was a resident of the county and died in the county of Halifax in the state of Virginia, and died in the county in the year 1840 on the 19th of July. that she left three children whose names were James Petty, Zebidee Petty, and Elizabeth Brown, who are of lawful age."
