PETTY Family lived in the "Old Fourth District" of Marshall County. Marshall County was formed 26 Feb. 1836 from parts of Bedford and Lincoln Counties. It would be my belief that the "Old Fourth District" would have been a part of Lincoln County before Marshall County was established. Settling in this area was one of the Pioneer Settlers of Middle Tennessee Joab BAGLEY. William Mathial PETTY owned the PETTY Farm where the famed Marshall County Landmark "Petty Cave" was located. Within a mile or less was the Mt. Zion Methodist Church and Cemetery that Joab BAGLEY had donated the property for the church and cemetery.

Keziah was the youngest daughter of Thomas & Jane Petty, and moved with Humphries/Benton Co with the family. She married there and was the heir to most of Thomas and Jane's property from reading the records. She got the household goods it seems. Keziah married in Benton Co. and lived in Carroll Co. Keziah's mother-in-law may have been a Clanton from Va.
