Note: William C. PETTY living Navarro Co TX 1848: "History of Navarro County" says; "The first bales of cotton were grown by Wm. Roberts and W. C. Petty, both settled in Navarro County in 1846. The first steam cotton gin in Corsicana was on Elm Creek near Corsicana. Newell Hodges owned this gin."

Note: Enlisted twice in McKie’s Co, Company F, Morgan’s Texas Calvary. He enlisted as a private, age 37, March 10, 1862 at Navarro County and was discharged July 16, 1862 as overage. Re-enlisted and was discharged again for medical reasons in Oct 1863. The enlistment records state that W.C. Petty was born in TN, was 5' 6", light complexioned, had blue eyes and dark hair, and was a farmer.

Note: In an account of the history of Retreat, Navarro Co Tx: “Beeman’s School House” Bill Petty is listed as an owner of race horses.
