Stated: " N. B. Pettey was raised and educated in TN, MS, and AR. and at the age of 16 went to Hickman Co., and engaged in clerking, where he remained 2 years. In 1856 he went to White County Arkansas, landing at Negro Hill in Sept. where he worked at farm labor in the summer season and attended school in the winter. He then went to Searcy and became a clerk until 1861 when he enlisted in July of 1861 in Company E. of the 3rd Arkansas calvalry. In 1879 he bought a farm of 60 acres near Centre Hill. He married Jennie Dannelly on Sept. 29, 1866. His wife died in 1865. They are parents of 2 sons, Napoleon B. Pettey and George G. Pettey.

Stated, " Mr. George G. Pettey settled in Allabama at an early day, and later moved to Mississippi, where he died in 1850. Five years later his widow moved to Arkansas with her family where she died in 1861.
