Their father, John Wigham, Sr. was born in Edinborough Scotland. I find this in Emigrants from England 1773-1776 (pub. by New Eng. Historic Gen'l Soc.) on p.8 lists, from Port of London, 18 to 25 Dec. 1773, John Wigham, age 23, occupation Gardner, from Lancashire on ship Susanna to Virginia as indentured servant. This could be our John Wigham Sr. John Wigham, Sr. married a Miss Clarkson in Virginia, in 1799 came to Kentucky, died at an advanced age. He was still listed in the 1820 Mercer County census but not in the 1830. Deeds of record in Mercer Co--
John Wigham, Jr., was born c1792 in Virginia, probably Mecklenburg County, and was a brother of my gr-gr-grandfather Joseph Wigham (1796-1883).

Duke and Wm. Wigham, heirs of Sarah Wigham, deceased. (Letter
from Frances E. Logan Kerr, 627 Fairview Ave., Webster Groves,
Mo., dated May 9, 1952.) So this is a little confusing to me. Although Sarah Petty was deceased, he still had a wife Sarah in 1850. I wonder who she was. Also, although we have a son William listed, what happened to Duke? I see you have 7 children listed for them. Would the John F. have been called "Duke"? John Wigham, age 70, b. Va. is listed as living alone in Perche Twp, Boone Co. Mo, P.O. Rocheport, in the 1860 census. Davis D. Petty, age 23, and Harbin M. Petty, age 37, households are on the same page. A correspondent, whose name I have misplaced, said that John died after 1860 in Mercer Co. Ky but I don't know where he might have gotten this information. There were several John Wighams so he may have had the wrong one.2Marriage Record, Clark Co., Indiana: Abstracts of Marriage Records 1898-1924, 14 Mar 1815.
