Therefore tthe children shown as John M. Petty's children would be by an unknown 1at wife, who probably died sometime around 1844-45 or at least before 1850. That could mean that Marshall Smith Petty could be a son of John Marshall Petty and Frances. If so it may be the only one born to that marriage. No absolute conclusion on this. Barb.
