"Reverend William Petty - 46641 was a staunch Baptist, and founded a number of Baptist Churches in North Carolina before he moved to Clark County, Kentucky. When the Rev. William died, his property was not divided fairly and Elias of William's second marriage to Letitia Thornton, was not very happy and later left and returned to North Carolina. Elias apparently returned to Clark County in after his children were older, and died on March 05, 1828 Apparently no one knows why he went back and for how long before he died, as his second wife Rachel Worth remained in North Carolina. Rachel was a member of the Society of Friends, but most likely Elias was not, and even his son Watson Petty - 7404 who married Lydia Macy did not become a Friend although Lydia was and remained so and brought up their children to be members of the Society.
I have attached William Clinton Petty -7410 and have bolded those children not mentioned in your work. Interesting bit, my grandfather William Cheatham Carr knew Annie Florence Petty and they were close friends, but Willliam was a dyed in the wool Methodist and Annie wasn't about to marry "Out of Unity" of the Society of Friends. She would have been dismissed as a member had she done so. Good thing the Society of Friends dropped that tenet, and I was an Episcopalian when Frances M. Petty and I were married. I include the attachment in order that you can see where these individuals occur and that you may do as you see fit in entering them or not. )."
