John Sutton Petty came to Texas with his wife Juliett Adline Boston. Her parents also came (Joel and Sarah Boston). John Sutton and Juliett had 3 children: John Allen Petty, James Hardin Petty and Martha Jane. Juliett died 3 weeks after the birth of Martha Jane. John Sutton Petty married 2nd wife Mahala Henson and this is the line I am descended from. They had the following children: Samuel
John Sutton Petty arrived in Texas in 1841 according to Land Grants. He was the son of Samuel Briant Petty and Tabitha Buntain. John Sutton was born in Anderson County Kentucky. Samuel Briant Petty is the son of Rodham Petty and Mary Shouse. Rodham Petty was from Culpepper, Va .(Prince William Co) He was a soldier in the Revolutionary War.

Charles W. Charles W. (Wick) is my grandfather. The Pettty Papers lists Ada and Ida as twins, but according to US Census Records they were four years apart. They lived in Bryans Mill, TX This is in Cass Co. The Cass Co GenWEb has a lot of information about this as does the Daughters of the Republic. 1880 Census Cass Co TX Precinct 3 (Image 53 ) July 7 & 8, 1880.

In 1910 Mahala was living with "Wick" C. Petty and daughter in law Sallie with their 5 daughters and one son.
